Roger Federer reckons Great Britain looks a more powerful team in comparison to Belgium and thus, has a greater chance of clinching the Davis Cup title.
Great Britain and Belgium are going to lock horns in the final tie of the Davis Cup in a couple of days’ time.
According to Federer, Murray is going to be the most important player in the tie and his presence is what has given Team GB the favourites tag,
Speaking on TV the other day, Federer said, “My pick would surely be Great Britain as they’ve got the services of Murray.”
Murray is yet to be beaten in the singles matches in Davis Cup 2015.
Not only has the Scot won his matches, he has been rather dominant against his opponents. He has been widely backed to continue his winning run in the final too.
When Federer was asked which player from the Belgian side, he reckons, would perform well and might give a good fight to Murray, the Swiss maestro, who himself had managed to win the title in 2014 with Switzerland, said, “David Goffin is there. He is someone who has been pretty impressive in the recent times and I believe he would be able to soak in the pressure of the big occasion. He is their top ranked player too. So, there’s going to be a lot of responsibility on his shoulders.”
Belgium would enjoy the crowd support though as they would be playing on their home turf and in pressure games, that plays a huge part.
But as Federer said and those who follow Tennis closely would know pretty well that if Murray happens to be at the top of his game, it would be really difficult for Belgium to topple Great Britain.
