MURRAY BEATS DODIG

Andy Murray has defeated Ivan Dodig in the first reverse singles match of the ongoing Davis Cup clash between Great Britain and Croatia. Murray won the match in the straight sets by 6-4, 6-2, 6-4.

With this win, Great Britain has taken an unbeatable lead of 3-1 and has made its way into the World Group.

Talking to the reporters after his win over Dodig, Murray said, “It’s a fantastic feeling. The atmosphere out there was brilliant.”

“We’ve got a pretty good team. There are some quality doubles players in there. So, I am hopeful about our chances next year.”

It was Murray’s second match against Dodig and he has won both of them.

In the opening set, Murray came all guns blazing. After sneaking a breakthrough in the very first game, he held on in the next game and took a lead of 2-0.

However, the scores got equalized soon as Dodig broke back in the 4th game. But, the Croatian player dropped his serve in the very next game and handed the advantage to his opponent again.

Murray didn’t give Dodig any opportunity of levelling the scores after that. He held his remaining serves and cinched the opener by 6-4.

In the second set, Murray was again off to a good start as he raced to a lead of 2-1 with a breakthrough in the 3rd game. The next 3 games went with the serve and the Scot was leading by 4-2 when the 6th game got over.

In the 7th game, Dodig lost his serve again and got trailed by 2-5. Murray had the chance to seal the set in the next game and he didn’t miss out. An easy serve hold took him ahead by 2 sets.

Murray got an early breakthrough in the third set too and he managed to keep that lead till the end. He held his entire serves and wrapped up the match.
