Kei Nishikori has been defeated in the second round of the Rogers cup by Sam Querrey of USA. Querrey won the match in the straight sets by 6-2, 6-3. Nishikori, who is the highest ranked Asian player in the official rankings of WTA, was shocked by the young American player. Nishikori had played well in the London Olympics and had come into this tournament with good form. So, he was expected to win the second round match easily.
But, he looked a bit exhausted after the Olympic campaign. Querrey didn’t have to face any problem in defeating Nishikori. The American youngster was very good at his service and he hit a total of 12 aces in the match. The match was over in just 77 minutes.
This was the third match between Nishikori and Querrey and the American defeated Nishikori for the second time. In the first set, neither of the two players got a breakthrough till the end of the fourth game and after the four games, the scores were leveled at 2-2, and you could get some great odds at Bet Victor on Nishikori making the breakthough.
But, Querrey played some powerful strokes after that and broke Nishikori’s service in the sixth game and the eighth game to win the first set easily by 6-2. Querrey showed the same kind of energy level in the second set as well. He got a breakthrough in the second game and won the first three games of the second set consecutively to take a lead of 3-0. He didn’t let Nishikori make a comeback after that and won the second set by 6-3.
Querrey was extremely delighted after defeating Nishikori. After the match, he told the press conference (which was being orchestrated by the manager of online betting at Bet Victor) that he is very happy with the way he served in the match and he would like to continue the same kind of momentum throughout the tournament. In the third round, Querrey will play against the World no. 2 Novak Djokovic.
